Ivan Garford

• Classically trained: studied at Goldsmiths College and the Royal Academy of Music.
• Versatile musician: proficient on piano and double bass, working in both jazz and classical contexts.
• Established jazz pedigree: he has accompanied and promoted major jazz figures (e.g., Don Rendell, Harry Beckett, Peter King, Alan Barnes).
• Composer / arranger: writes original arrangements for his trio and other ensembles.
• A regular performer at Upwell Jazz Club.

Derek Scurll

• Broad musical background: started on piano, violin, then cello, before specialising in percussion.
• Formal training: studied music at Selwyn College, Cambridge.
• Vibraphone specialization: studied vibraphone in jazz under Roger Beaujolais (among others).
• Genre-spanning performer: works across jazz, classical, funk, salsa, folk, showing great flexibility.
• Educator & composer/arranger: he teaches, arranges, composes.
• Recording credits: He and Ivan Garford collaborated on the album Entrance, featuring Ivan’s compositions for piano & vibraphone.
• Ensemble experience: Derek plays in other jazz ensembles, including the quartet Q3.

Andy Doyle

• Experienced regional jazz musician: Andy Doyle is a seasoned bass player based around Norwich and the East Anglia area with over 25 years of performing experience.
• Versatile bassist: Primarily on bass guitar, he’s known for his lyrical, expressive playing within jazz contexts and brings strong technique and musical sensitivity to his performances.
• Active collaborator in local jazz scene: Regularly performs with jazz groups in the Norwich / Cambridge scene — for example with Norwich Jazz Club ensembles and gigs such as the Paul Hill Quartet.
• Broad repertoire: Plays jazz standards and contemporary jazz in club settings, contributing rhythmic depth and melodic support as a core ensemble member.

Joe Taylor

• Award-winning, professional drummer: Joe Taylor began playing at a young age and won Outstanding Drummer of the Year after studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music. He’s developed into a seasoned performer across styles including jazz, funk, soul, rock and session work.
Versatile musician: Primarily known for drums (and also bass), Joe brings a strong rhythmic feel and adaptability to ensembles and sessions, performing both live and in studio settings.
• Collaborative performer: He plays with groups such as the Zero Gravity Trio (funk/jazz/fusion) and has gigged at events including Cambridge Jazz Festival and Norwich Jazz Club, showcasing groove-oriented and dynamic playing.
• Experienced educator / mentor: In addition to performing, Joe has taught drums privately and in schools, helping students at all levels develop their musical skills.
• Recording & session work: He has worked with a wide range of artists spanning genres (from jazz/soul to rock/pop), and endorses Cambridge Drums, reflecting his active role in the UK music scene.
