Jazz Events at The Corn Hall - Diss
Hidden Jazz Spots & Local Bands
The Corn Hall, Diss is a new venue for us, one which we have quite taken to! The jazz events seem to draw a knowledgeable and friendly crowd, and the quality of the performances has been second to none.
We watched Chris Ingham's Music of Dudley Moore at Swaffham Jazz Club and were entranced. We then saw Chris's Trio with Alan Barnes at the Corn Hall and followed that up with another visit to see Chris and his trio playing Steely Jazz. Seeing that The Chris Ingham Trio (Chris Ingham, George Double, and Malcolm Creese) regularly appear at the Corn Hall is enough to warrant the Corn Hall a permanent place on this website.
I'm only including jazz events that are held at the Corn Hall; to find out about other events held here, check their website: What's On at The Corn Hall.

‘Hejira’ - celebrating Joni Mitchell (a 7-piece band performing Mitchell’s greatest works)
Hattie Whitehead (vocals and guitars), Pete Oxley (guitar), Ollie Weston (saxophones),
Chris Eldred (Piano & keyboards), David Jones (electric basses)
For all info about Hejira and our 2025/26 tour dates, please visit www.hejira.co.uk.
The material that this band performs is drawn primarily from the period that many regard as the pinnacle of Mitchell's mature writing. During this era, Joni released 6 outstanding albums (beginning with Court & Spark), culminating in the live recording, Shadows And Light. The songs from these works are beautiful, exciting and, as always with Joni, totally touching in the poignancy of the lyrics. Importantly, as with the original personnel, the band – though comprised of great and highly experienced musicians – brings its own life to the music.
As it was Joni Mitchell’s 80th birthday in 2023, this being followed by her being awarded a Grammy in 2024 – we feel that there couldn’t be a better time for celebrating the major works of, arguably, the greatest singer-songwriter of the 20th century.
Expect an evening of Joni’s ‘great songs’, such as ‘Amelia’, ‘Help Me’, ‘In France They Kiss On Main Street’, ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns’, ‘Hejira’, ‘Be Cool’, ‘Free Man in Paris’, etc.!
